HPAC Registered Grades

First Aider (FA)

- First Aiders require a certificate in First Aid or Advanced First Aid

First Responder (CFR)

- First Responders require either an NHS Ambulance Trust CFR Certificate, a FutureQuals Level 3 Certificate for Ambulance Service First Responders, a Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) or a QA Level 2 Award for Community First Responders (RQF)

Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA)

- Ambulance Care Assistants require either an NHS Ambulance Trust PTS Certificate, a Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3), a FutureQuals Level 3 Certificate in Ambulance Patient Care or evidence of having completed equivalent quality training in all associated modules

Police Medical Responder (PMR)

- Police Medical Responders must hold an award such as  D13 / D13E / Mod 5 Public Order Medic or equivalent and be in active service within the police force.

Fire Medical Responder (FMR)

- Fire Medical Responders must hold an award as an emergency medical responder who is an operational staff member within the Fire and rescue services (FRS) 

Emergency Care Assistant (ECA)

- ECAs require either an accredited NHS Ambulance Trust Emergency Care Assistant or Emergency Care Support Worker Certificate, a FutureQuals Level 3 Diploma in Ambulance Emergency and Urgent Care Support (FAQ Level 3), a Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 4) or evidence of having completed equivalent quality training in all associated modules

Ambulance Technician (EMT) 

Ambulance Technicians require either an IHCD Technician Certificate or an NHS Ambulance Trust EMT Certificate equal to an IHCD Technician, a QA Level 5 Diploma in First Response Emergency and Urgent Care (RQF) or evidence of having completed equivalent quality training in all associated modules

Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP)

- Associate Ambulance Practitioners require a FutureQuals Level 4 Diploma for Associate Ambulance Practitioners or a Qualsafe Level 4 Diploma for Associate Ambulance Practitioners

Student Paramedic (SPA)

- Student Paramedics must already be enrolled in an HCPC approved programme

HCPC Registered Paramedic (PA)

- Paramedics must be registered with the HCPC in order to apply to the HPAC. Please note that Paramedics who register with the HPAC do so as voluntary secondary registration only - this does not replace the requirement for HCPC registration. Paramedics must maintain their registration with the HCPC at all times in order to remain on the HPAC register. If a Paramedic is struck off, suspended or receives a restricted practice order from the HCPC, the same action will be immediately replicated on the HPAC register without appeal.

Please note that if an individual has been struck off, suspended, or placed under a restricted practice order on a statutory register they will not be able to apply to the HPAC.
